Friends Of Steeple Claydon Library

Friends of Steeple Claydon Library

(F.O.S.C.L) It is an independent constituted committee which was formed 5 years ago to promote the library. which does not receive any support or funding from the Parish Council. It meets 4 times a year The meetings are open to anyone who would like to attend, and maybe become a committee member. It was formed to assist the Librarian in promoting the library and making the library a friendly and welcoming place to visit.

A grant was granted by the B.C.C which enable the web site to be created www.steepleclaydonlibrary.co.uk. This web site is full of interesting facts about the History of the village, the people who lived in the village, events that happen many years ago. Also, why it is such an amazing place for the volunteers to work there.

The web site also supports a click and collect service. To access this service, you will first need to be registered with the library. The Click and Collect service is available to all registered Library users on request. The service is only accessible through the web site

With the help of the amazing Library volunteers Team, the (F.O.S.C.L ) have raised funds through raffles, donations, and Christmas stalls. This has enabled us to purchase pictures of “Old Steeple Claydon “which are on display. Create and sell a 2020 Village calendar. Also, a book titled “Walk around Steeple Claydon” which tells a story of the past and present places.

There is also a (F.O.S.C.L) Facebook page. Any urgent notices concerning the library are post on the Steeple Claydon Forum Facebook.

The Friends are very passionate about keeping the 111-year-old library open and used in the village. It is incredibly unique and a lovely calming place to visit even if you do not want to take a book out.

With the generosity of all the donated books we receive from the parishioners hopefully it will continue.

Please contact the library if you require further information, on any of the above items.
