LIBARY QUARTERLY COMMITEE MEETING

was* held at the Library Tuesday, April 11th. Present: Dr. Benson (chair), Mr. J. T. Read vice-chair). Miss Beck, Mrs. \Vigley, Mrs. T. White. Messrs. J. Beckett, J. Collingridgc, and G. Blake. The Clerk .Mr. Hawes) was unavoidably absent through indisposition, aud Mr. Oollingridge officiated clerk in his absence.- The minutes the previous meeting were read and signed. letter was read from Lady Verney asking ior permission to make alteration in one the windows in the verandah, and the same was unanimously granted. letter was read from Mr. Beckett Sir Harry Verney Lodge Oddfellows) asking for the use of the Hall on Whit Tuesday the usual conditions, and this was also unanimously granted.—lt was also decided that the question making the necessary application to the Local Government Board under the Public Libraries Act, 1901, should be left in the hands the Executive Committee. The Hon. Librarian’s report was next considered. This was brief nature, a lengthy report was given recently to the Parish Meeting and published at that time.—The report was adopted. The Hon. Treasurer (Mr. mgr id then gave statement of the Librarv accounts, showing the current and billiard funds to be both in favourable positions, and the finances of the Library to l>e in better position than last year.—The report was adopted, and Dr. Benson and Mr. Read were appointed auditors to go through the accounts for the year. The Executive Committee recommended: That vote of thanks bo given Sir Harry Verney, M.P., for the continuance the j6lO (annual) donation to the funds the Library; that grant of £2 made from the billiard funds for books, the oame to used at the discretion of the Librarian; also that all accounts for hire be settled quarterly at the latest.—These were adopted, and one or two minor details were also decided unon. was also resolved that an enlarged photograph of the late Sir Edmund Verney la* hung the Library walls, and the arrangements respecting this were left in the bands of the Chairman.
