Shortly afterwards,

the housemaid was sent, upstairs fetch the children down, but she returned a fright, saying that the children were still in bad, that the nurse was not there, and that the room smelt of brandy. Somerset, surgeon, was at once sent for, but his services were of no avail. Supt. Shepherd, of the Bucks police, was sent for, who took the nurse into custody.
