In Memory

In Memory of

Of the Late Mrs. S. Coleman who passed away on Saturday, March 29th. She was within fortnight of her 86th year. Mrs. Coleman came to Steeple Claydon well over 60 years ago with the family of the Rev. A Newcombe and remained with them until she got married. Mrs. Coleman was of a retiring and peaceful disposition and was well-known in the village. She belonged to the Mothers’ Union. She was also a staunch Methodist and attended the services most regularly until illhealth prevented this. The death of her brother a short time ago was a great shock to her. Amid many signs of respect, she was laid to rest in the same grave as her husband who predeceased her some four years ago. It was very fitting that their golden wedding anniversary occurred before death parted them, for they were a devoted couple. The funeral on Thursday was conducted by the Rev. Gladstone Griffith. The hymns Our blest Redeemer,” and ” On the resurrection morning.” and the 23rd Psalm were sung. Mr. G. T. Capel was at the organ. The family mourners were Mr. and Mrs. H. Coleman (son and daughter-inlaw), Mr. and Mrs. W. Stone (son-in-law and daughter), Mrs. A. Gibbard (daughter). Mr. and Mrs. C. Coleman (son and daughter in-law), Mrs. Little and daughter, Ella (Harrow), Mrs. J. Turney (Bletchley), Mrs. Head (Ealing), Miss Grace and Mrs. J. Grace.
