Fatal Accident

To Calvert Man KILLED BY APPROACHING TRAIN. We regret to record the tragic death of Mr. Frederick Harper, a native of Calvert, who was killed on the L.M.S. line, near Kenton, Middlesex. We understand that while helping to unload some steel rails, close to the main line, he accidently stepped back in the way of an approach ing express train with which he collided and was instantaneously killed his body being terribly mutilated. At the inquest, on Friday, the jury, after hearing the evidence of the witnesses, returned a verdict of accidental death.” The late Mr. Harper was a son of Mr. Fredk. Harper, of Calvert. He was single and was thirty-five years of age. Much sympathy has been extended to Mr. Harper and family in their great trouble. The funeral took place at St. Michael’s Church, Steeple Claydon, on Saturday last, the cortege leaving Steeple Claydon Station, where the coffin had arrived by train. The Rev. G. F. C. Dobson conducted the funeral service and two hymns were sung, Abide with Me and ” Son of my Soul.” The chief mourners were Mr. Fredk. Harper (father), Mrs. Goody (sister), Mr. Ernest Harper (brother), Mrs. Alec Thompson (sister), Mr. Jack Harper (brother) and Mrs. C. Harper (sister-in-law), Mr. Charles Harper (brother), Mrs. Ernest Harper (sister-in-law), three fellowemployees from London, Mrs. F. Satchell (aunt), Mr. T. Satchell (cousin), Mr. T. Perkins (uncle), Mrs. Haynes (neighbour) and Mr. R. Brooks, of Padbury (friend). There were number of beautiful floral tributes, as follows : In loving memory, from Dad, Jack, Win and Lidy.
