THE MARRIAGE TOOK PLACE OF

Mr George T Rawlings & Miss Rosie C Lyon

The wedding took place at St. Michael’s Church, Steeple Claydon. on Saturday, Mr. George Thomas Rawlings and Miss Rosie Catherine Lydn, both of Steeple Clt-ydon. The bridegroom is known to many sportsmen in the locality a member of both the Steeple Claydon Cricket and Football Clubs. The bride, who was given away by her eldest brother, Mr. Edward J. Lyon, looked charming in a gown of white satin, with veil and halo of orange blossom, and carried a bouquet of pink roses and carnations. The bridesmaid was Miss Dorothy Everest (friend of the bride) and she wore turquoise dress with pink head-dress and a bouquet pink carnations. Master Anthony Lyon (nephew the bride) was page boy and was dressed in long .white satin trousers with blouse to match. The duties best man were carried out by Able Seaman Jesse Rawlings, of the Royal Navy (brother of the bridegroom).. LUCKY WISHBONE FOR THE BRIDE. The Rev. W. S. Hazeldine officiated, and Mr. Geo. Capel was at the organ. The hymns sung were ” Lead us. Heavenly Father, lead d O Love Divine.” The Home Guard of which the bridegroom is as member, formed a guard honour the church. On leaving the church, the bride was* presented with two silver horse-shoes by her nephew, Anthony, and the bridegroom’s sister, Vera; also a lucky wishbone from the bridegroom’s sister, Jane, The bridegroom’s gift to the bride was a gold chain and cross, and the bride gave the bridegroom a gold signet ring. The gift to the bridesmaid was a silver neck chain, and Master Anthony Lyon received a fountain pen and pencil. Much disappointment was felt that Miss Anne McMahon, niece the bridegroom, was unable to fulfil the duties of one the bridesmaids owing to illness. Her present was a gold cross and chain. The presents, received were useful and numerous.
