THE MARRIAGE TOOK PLACE OF

Private George Beckett & Miss Gertrude Mortimer

A Military Wedding’ took place of Private George Beckett, son of Mr. and Mrs. J. Beckett, of Addison Road, Steeple Claydon and Miss Gertrude Mortimer, daughter of Mrs. Mortimer and the late Mr. Mortimer, of Reading. The bride who was given away by Mr. Saunders (friend of the bridegroom) looked charming in a gown of white satin and embroidered veil with headdress of lilies of the valley. Miss Joyce Clements cousin of the bridegroom was bridesmaid who wore a dress of blue taffeta. The bouquets were of white carnations. The Rev. R. G. Griffith conducted the service and Miss Alma Quainton was at the organ. The hymn, Praise my soul the King of Heaven was sung. The best man was Private Cyril Beckett (brother of the bridegroom), reception was held at the bridegroom’s home and there were numerous presents.
